How we price

How our prices work, and where every number comes from.

One rate card for van and crew, the same across London. Here is how time is counted, what is always included, what is priced on its own, and how you pay.

One rate card

Every van and crew job is priced from this table, in every London borough, on every day of the week. The cost calculator, the booking page, Alfie and our quotes all read the same figures.

Van and crewFirst 2 hoursThen per hourSuits
Small van, driver only£90£45Studios, a few items, or a load you can help carry yourself.
Small van + 1 helper£110£65One-bedroom flats, student moves and single heavy items.

How time is counted

Every job has a two-hour minimum. The first two hours cost the base price in the table, however short the job is.

After that, time is counted in 30-minute steps at the hourly rate. So a small van & driver job that takes two and a half hours costs:

£90 for the first 2 hours £22.50 for 30 minutes £112.50

Included and separate

The rate covers the van, the crew and everything they bring. Some jobs need more than moving, and those parts are priced on their own, so you only pay for what you use.

Always included

  • Fuel and mileage inside London
  • ULEZ charge
  • £10,000 goods in transit insurance
  • Blankets and straps
  • Trolleys and floor protection
  • Stairs at any floor level
  • Evenings, weekends and bank holidays

Priced separately

  • Packing labour, full or part
  • Boxes and materials
  • Plastic crate hire
  • Dismantling and reassembly
  • Furniture hoisting
  • Storage between dates
  • Parking suspensions charged by the council

Never charged, on any job: stair fee, weekend premium, ULEZ charge, travel surcharge in London, evening slots.

Starting prices

Every service page shows a starting price, so you never have to ask just to get a number.

Van and crew jobs (house and flat moves, man and van, single items, collections) start from the rate card above.

Other services (packing, storage, crate hire, specialist moves) show a starting price for the simplest version of that job, set against what London firms charge for the same work. Your exact price depends on your details, and we confirm it before you book.

Tools and research

Our tools use the same rate card. The cost calculator multiplies it by the hours you pick; the van size calculator adds up typical furniture sizes; the parking checker copies each council’s own charges.

Our research guides name the source in the sentence (a council, GOV.UK, TfL or a van maker) and the month we checked it. Councils change their fees, so the date tells you how fresh a figure is.

Paying and cancelling

No deposit. Nothing is paid before the job. You pay by bank transfer once the job is finished.

Free to cancel or change up to 24 hours before the start time. Inside 24 hours it is up to 50% of the quoted price.

When a price can change

Because van and crew jobs are charged by time, the final price follows the time the job really takes. The things that most often add time are packing that is not finished, furniture that still needs taking apart, no parking near the door, and a lift that has not been booked.

Tell us about those before the day and we can plan for them. Photos on WhatsApp are the quickest way.
