Editorial policy
How we write our moving guides.
Who writes them, where the facts come from, how we keep them current, and what to do if you spot a mistake.
We write what customers ask
Our guides start from the questions people send us by phone and WhatsApp, and the ones they type into Google: what a move costs, whether the sofa will fit, where the van can park.
Official sources first
Rules and fees come from the people who set them: councils, GOV.UK and TfL. Van sizes come from the makers and hire firms that publish them. We name the source in the sentence, so you can check it yourself.
Every figure has a date
Research guides say the month we checked each figure, and every guide shows when it was published and last updated. Councils and TfL change their charges, so the date tells you how fresh a number is.
Our prices come from one place
Any Alpha Movers price in a guide comes from our rate card, the same figures used by the booking page and the cost calculator. If the rate card changes, the guides change with it.
Plain English, no filler
Short sentences, real numbers, tables where they help, and the answer near the top. If a question has no single answer, we say what it depends on.
We are a removal company
We move people around London for a living, and our guides say where our own services fit. We do not run adverts on our guides.
Who writes
Our writers
Every guide names its author. Guides are written and checked by the Alpha Movers team, who plan and carry out moves across London every week.
Corrections
Spotted a mistake?
Tell us which guide and what is wrong, with a link to the source if you have one. We check it, correct the guide and change its updated date.
Rather just ask us?
Two minutes on the phone beats an hour of reading. 8am–10pm, seven days.
