The short answer
Same-day click and collect bypasses standard store delivery queues
Standard IKEA store deliveries are often scheduled days or weeks out, and only drop pallets at the kerbside. By selecting 'Click & Collect' at your preferred London IKEA store and booking a man and van, you can have your sofa collected, delivered to your room of choice, and assembled within hours of purchase.
- Click & Collect: Share the release barcode with us to pick up the boxes immediately.
- Croydon, Wembley, Lakeside: We perform daily collections from all major London IKEA depots.
- Room-of-choice: We carry heavy box cartons up stairs directly into your flat or lounge.
- Professional assembly: We assemble frames, join modular segments, and clear all cardboard waste.
How Click & Collect Independent collections Work
IKEA's own home delivery can take days to schedule and often has long delivery windows. Their teams also drop heavy flat-packs at the entrance of your building, leaving you to carry the boxes inside. Selecting 'Click & Collect' lets you book us to pick up your order immediately after store confirmation.
To set this up, choose your preferred London store (IKEA Croydon, Wembley, or Lakeside) when placing your order online. Once you receive the collection release email containing the barcodes, send the PDF to us on WhatsApp. We dispatch a Luton van with a tail lift to the loading bays and collect the boxes on your behalf.
IKEA Store Collection Rules
We handle pickups from these major London locations daily:
- IKEA Croydon (Valley Park): Crowded loading bays; we recommend booking morning pickup slots to avoid traffic delays.
- IKEA Wembley (Brent Park): Located near the North Circular road; we optimize routes to avoid congestion delays.
- IKEA Lakeside (Thurrock): Large warehouse layout; ideal for collecting heavy sectional modular frames.
Assembling Modular IKEA Sofas (SÖDERHAMN, HÄRLANDA)
IKEA sofas like the SÖDERHAMN or HÄRLANDA arrive in multiple large, heavy boxes. Carrying these cartons up narrow stairs or corridors is difficult without professional help. Our two-man crew carries the boxes directly into your lounge, unboxes the parts, and lays them out systematically.
We assemble the modular wood and steel frames according to manual instructions, bolt the pieces together, and stretch the fabric covers tight. This saves you hours of manual labor and ensures the modular brackets are locked correctly to prevent frame wobble.
Popular IKEA Sofa Assembly Guide
The table below compares the assembly complexity of popular IKEA sofa models:
| Model Name | Number of Box Cartons | Assembly Difficulty | Key Step |
|---|---|---|---|
| SÖDERHAMN (3-seat section) | 3 - 5 boxes | Medium (stretching cover requires patience) | Secure webbing springs and align corner brackets |
| HÄRLANDA (Corner sectional) | 6 - 9 boxes | High (heavy frame sections) | Align slide clips and bolt sections together |
| FRIHETEN (Corner sofa-bed) | 3 boxes | Medium | Mount pull-out mechanism rollers |

Cardboard Disposal and Access Checks
Unboxing a modular sofa generates a large amount of cardboard packaging and plastic wrap. Our premium assembly service includes packing up all waste materials and taking them to local recycling centers, leaving your home completely clean.
If your staircase turn is too narrow for large IKEA cartons, do not force them. Instead, we can help dismantle the flat-packs at the entrance, or coordinate with our dedicated Sofa Hoisting crew to lift the item through a balcony. Frequently asked questions
We check for this at the store. When collecting your IKEA order, the crew counts the boxes against your receipt and order list before loading. If the loading bay has missed a box, we sort it out at the collection counter before leaving, so you do not find missing parts halfway through assembly at home. Send us your order number and item list in advance so the check is quick on the day.
IKEA sofa collection and delivery with Alpha Movers starts from £110 for the first two hours with a van, driver and one helper, then £65 an hour, which suits most sofas that need two people to carry. Assembly of modular frames is added separately and starts from around £40, depending on how complex the model is. Send the product name and both postcodes and we will confirm the price before booking.
