What will a parking suspension cost you?
Pick your council to see the charge, the notice it needs and the late fee, then put in your move date for the last day to apply. Figures checked on each council’s website in October 2026.
Your council
Ten Central and inner London councils. Not sure which one? It is the council for the street the van will park on.
Your move date
Optional. We count back the council’s notice period to the last safe day to apply.

How we work it out
Where the numbers come from
- Source. We read each council’s parking suspension page in October 2026 and copied the charges as the council states them. Nothing is converted into a common unit, because councils do not use one.
- The example. Two spaces for one day, for a home move booked with full notice. Six of the ten councils count one space as five metres where bays are not marked.
- Apply-by date. Counted back from your move date. “Working days” skip Saturdays and Sundays; we cannot see bank holidays, so leave extra time around them.
- Do you need one? Not always. Some councils let a removal van load on a single yellow line or in a bay if loading is continuous. The guide explains when a suspension is worth it.
