What a London removal actually costs in 2026
Van size, crew size and hours are the only three things that change the number. Everything else is either included or avoidable.
The short answer
- From £90 for a small van and driver, £110 with one helper, £150 for a Luton with two.
- Two-hour minimum, then £40–£75 an hour in 30-minute increments.
- Fuel, ULEZ, insurance, blankets and straps are included. No stair fees, no weekend premium.
Most quotes you get over the phone in London are built the same way: pick a van, pick a crew, estimate the hours. If you understand those three inputs you can tell within a minute whether a quote is fair, and whether the cheaper one is actually cheaper.
The rate card
These are our published rates across all 32 boroughs. There is no travel surcharge inside Greater London and no difference between a Saturday and a Tuesday.

After the two-hour minimum we bill in half hours, so a job that runs two and a half hours is not rounded up to three.
Why a bigger crew is often cheaper
The instinct is to book the smallest crew you can. It usually costs more. A one-bedroom flat on the second floor with a single helper takes roughly four hours; the same load with two helpers takes two and a half. At our rates that is £240 against £187.50, and you get your evening back.
The rule of thumb: if there are stairs at either end, or more than about fifteen boxes, the second helper pays for itself.
What adds an hour without anyone noticing
- Packing that isn't finished when the van arrives — by far the most common one. (Here is when paying for packing is worth it.)
- Beds and wardrobes still assembled, when dismantling wasn't booked.
- No parking near the door at either address, so everything is carried 60 metres.
- A lift that needs booking with building management and hasn't been.

Parking, ULEZ and the congestion charge
We absorb ULEZ. The congestion charge applies only if your move crosses the central zone on a weekday, and we tell you on the call if it does (more in our ULEZ and congestion charge guide). Parking suspensions are different: some boroughs want ten working days' notice and charge per bay per day, so if your street is a controlled parking zone, raise it early and we'll arrange it. Hourly or fixed?
Hourly is cheaper for most domestic moves because the average job finishes inside the estimate. Ask for a fixed price when you need certainty — a completion day with a tight chain, or an office move where the building gives you a four-hour window. Both are available; the fixed figure is agreed before the day and doesn't change as long as the load matches what you described.
What is never charged extra
- Blankets, straps, trolleys and floor protection.
- Stairs, however many floors.
- Evenings and weekends.
- Goods in transit and public liability insurance.
