How to Get a Removal Quote from Alfie in Two Minutes

A guided walk through getting a removal quote from Alfie: how to start the chat, which quote type you will get, and how to read the price.

Published 16 October 2026 · Updated 16 October 2026

Alfie gives a starting price in the same chat where you ask your questions.

Alfie is the chat assistant on every page of the Alpha Movers website. You can ask him about services, policies and prices. For a removal quote, you describe the job in a sentence or two, and Alfie replies with a starting price from our published rate card.

This guide shows you how to start the chat, which of the three quote types you will get, what the price covers, and how to get the most accurate answer in one reply.

Key takeaways

  • Press “Ask Alfie” on any page. Sign-in uses the same six-digit email code as the booking page.
  • Alfie gives one of three quote types: hourly, price range, or call us.
  • A small van and driver starts at £90 for the first two hours, then £45 an hour.
  • Alfie gives a starting price. A large home or an office needs a survey before we confirm a fixed figure.
  • A photo of the stairs or the parking spot often answers the access question before you type it.

Step 1: Start the chat

Press the “Ask Alfie” button at the bottom of any page. The chat panel opens. Alfie asks for your email address and sends a six-digit code. Type the code and you are in.

Why we ask for the code: it saves your chat to your email, so you can come back to the same quote later. It also means one sign-in covers the chat, the booking page and My bookings.

Step 2: Describe the job in one message

Tell Alfie what you are moving and from where. A short message is enough. For example: “Two-bed flat in Westminster to a house in Camden, third floor, no lift, the van can park on the street.”

Alfie chooses the quote type that fits your job. You do not have to pick it yourself. For how Central London congestion and ULEZ rules affect a quote, see our ULEZ and congestion charge guide.

What to include in your first message

Include the two postcodes, the size (studio, one bed, two bed, three bed or office), the floor and lift at each address, where the van can park, and your preferred date. Those six details let Alfie price the job in one reply.

Step 3: Understand the three quote types

Each quote type fits a different kind of job. Here is how to read each one.

  • Hourly quote: for a single room, a few boxes or a small load. You get a van, a crew and an hourly figure. A small van with a driver is £90 for the first two hours, then £45 an hour.
  • Price range: for a typical house or flat move. A hoist, for example, is quoted between £150 and £280. The office narrows the range when it checks access.
  • Call us: for larger homes and offices, such as a four or five bedroom house or a full office. Alfie passes you to the office, because the job needs a survey before a fixed price can be given.

Step 4: Check what the price covers

Every quote includes the van, the crew and travel within Greater London. On our invoices there is no stair fee, no weekend premium, no ULEZ charge and no evening charge.

Some things are quoted separately and agreed before the day: packing and materials, dismantling and reassembly, furniture hoisting, storage, and any council parking suspension. Alfie tells you when one of these applies.

The two-hour minimum

Every booking has a two-hour minimum. That first block covers the van arriving, the loading, the journey, the unloading and parking. After two hours you pay for the time used, in 30-minute steps.

Step 5: Get a faster, more accurate answer

If you give Alfie these details in your first message, he can price the job in one reply instead of asking several questions.

  • The floor at each address, and whether there is a lift.
  • Where the van can park at each address, and whether you need a parking suspension.
  • The number of hours you expect the job to take, or let Alfie suggest a block.
  • Both postcodes, so we can check access in your area.

If you send a photo of a staircase or a parking spot, Alfie can see it. A photo often answers the access question before you have to type it.

Step 6: Decide what to do next

If the price suits you, Alfie can start a booking in the same chat. If you want to think about it, the quote stays in your saved chat, and you can come back to it from your email sign-in.

If you want to talk to a person, call 07448 849354 between 8am and 10pm, seven days a week, and quote the reference from your chat if you have one.

Frequently asked questions

It is a starting price built from our rate card. The final figure depends on how long the job takes, the access at both addresses and the items. If the office needs to check something, we tell you before the day.
